Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics
Jurnal Phos is committed to upholding high standards of ethical behavior throughout the publication process. All authors, editors, and reviewers involved in the journal’s activities are expected to follow these ethical guidelines to ensure the integrity and quality of the journal.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
-
Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. Proper citation of prior work is required, and copied text, even if cited, should be limited. Authors should adhere to ethical standards of citation.
-
Data Integrity: Authors should provide accurate data and must not fabricate, falsify, or selectively omit data. Research and results must be represented honestly and comprehensively.
-
Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. Transparency in this regard is essential for the credibility of the publication.
-
Authorship: All listed authors must have made a significant contribution to the research. Individuals who did not contribute substantially should not be listed as authors. Corresponding authors must confirm that all co-authors approve the manuscript for submission.
2. Responsibilities of Reviewers
-
Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential and not disclose any information regarding the manuscripts to third parties. Manuscripts must not be discussed or shared outside the review process.
-
Impartiality and Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with no personal criticism of the author. Feedback should be constructive and based solely on the scholarly content of the manuscript. Reviewers should evaluate the manuscript based on its academic merit, including its contribution to the field of theology, Christian Religious Education, biblical studies, and church history.
-
Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must notify the editor if they have any conflicts of interest with the authors or the content of a manuscript. They should not review manuscripts that could benefit them personally or professionally.
3. Responsibilities of Editors
-
Fairness: Editors must evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit, without bias toward the author’s gender, ethnicity, nationality, or other personal characteristics. All authors should be treated equally regardless of their background.
-
Confidentiality: Editors must keep all information regarding submitted manuscripts confidential. Manuscripts should not be discussed with individuals outside the editorial process.
-
Decision Making: Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the validity of the work, its contribution to the field, and the feedback from reviewers. Editorial decisions should be made based on scholarly value rather than personal preference.
-
Conflict of Interest: Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist. They must act in the best interest of the journal and its academic integrity.
4. Handling of Misconduct
-
Any suspected misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data manipulation) will be thoroughly investigated. Jurnal Phos reserves the right to reject or retract articles in cases of ethical violations.
-
Authors may be asked to provide additional data or information to confirm the validity of their work. If ethical violations are found, we may take further action, including notifying the relevant institutions.
5. Transparency and Openness
-
Jurnal Phos is committed to transparency in its publication process. Any changes to these ethics guidelines will be communicated clearly to authors, reviewers, and readers.
By adhering to these ethical standards, Jurnal Phos aims to promote trust and integrity in the publication of scholarly work in theology, Christian Religious Education, biblical studies, and church history.
