Archiving Policy
The Journal of the Institute for Biblical Aramaic Studies (JIBAS) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. Our archiving policy guarantees that all articles, reviews, and scholarly works remain permanently available to readers and researchers worldwide.
1. Digital Archiving and Preservation
To secure the long-term availability of our publications, JIBAS utilizes reliable digital archiving solutions:
- LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): JIBAS participates in the LOCKSS network, which enables distributed archiving among participating libraries. This ensures that our content is preserved across multiple locations and can be restored in case of data loss.
- CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS): Our journal is also archived within the CLOCKSS system, providing a decentralized and distributed preservation infrastructure to safeguard our content.
- Institutional Repositories: We encourage authors to deposit their published articles in institutional repositories or personal websites, in line with our open-access policy.
2. Access to Archived Content
All archived content is available to readers free of charge, in alignment with our open-access policy. Archived articles are accessible through our website and partner repositories, ensuring continuous access to research.
3. Permanent Identifiers (DOI)
Each article published in JIBAS is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This DOI is permanently linked to the article, allowing readers to reliably locate and cite our publications even if there are changes in the journal’s platform or hosting environment.
4. Policy on Retention and Withdrawal
In rare cases where corrections or retractions are necessary, JIBAS follows the standard retraction policies recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Retracted articles will remain accessible with a clear notice indicating the reason for retraction, to maintain the transparency and integrity of the academic record.
