Submission Guidelines

The Journal of the Institute for Biblical Aramaic Studies (JIBAS) welcomes original research papers, review articles, and case studies related to Biblical Aramaic studies. All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines to be considered for publication:

1. Manuscript Preparation

  • Language: Manuscripts should be written in clear, scholarly English.
  • File Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • Length: Research articles should be between 5,000 to 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
  • Title Page: Include a separate title page with the article title, authors’ full names, affiliations, and contact information, including email addresses.
  • Abstract: Provide an abstract of 150–250 words summarizing the study's purpose, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: Include 4-6 relevant keywords that reflect the main topics of the paper.

2. References and Citation Style

  • Use a consistent citation style, such as Chicago Manual of Style (author-date), for in-text citations and the reference list.
  • Ensure all references are complete and accurate, including DOIs for journal articles where available.

3. Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables must be cited in the text and included in the manuscript file. High-resolution images (300 dpi or higher) should be provided.
  • Provide a brief, descriptive title for each figure and table.

4. Ethics and Disclosure

  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Research involving human subjects must adhere to ethical standards, and relevant approvals must be documented.

5. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts should be submitted via the online submission system. New users will need to create an account to submit their manuscripts.
  • The corresponding author will receive notifications and updates regarding the review status of their manuscript.

6. Peer Review Process

  • All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartiality. Authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review.
  • Review feedback and editorial decisions will be communicated to the authors within 8-10 weeks of submission.

7. Publication Fees

  • Currently, there are no fees for submission or publication in JIBAS. However, this policy is subject to change, and authors will be notified in advance.
